At the age of 6, I was bitten by our neighbor's cranky old dachshund. My mother being the emergency room nurse she was, took me straight to the ER. On our way, we stopped at the local vet hospital to inquire about "Cranky's" rabies status. Within just a few minutes, my tears gave way to absolute joy as I was surrounded by pets of all kinds waiting to see their doctor. At dinner that night, I announced to my family that I was deciding on whether to be a bum or a pet doctor when I grew up. My folks, needless to say, were happy I chose the latter.
I graduated from Rutgers University in 1977, with a BS in Animal Science. I then received my DVM from Aranetta University in the Philippines in 1981. My first position was at a mixed practice in Plesantville, Illinois. In the Spring of 1986 Animals of Eden opened its doors!
My life's dream has come true! My staff and I are impacting the quality of pets' lives, through compassion, education, and a close relationship with their family. At Animals of Eden, we see our role as celebrating the long and healthy life of our four-legged friends, not as caregivers but more as family members.
I arrived in these beautiful mountains by way of St. Petersburg, Florida and Long Island, New York. I have worked in the fields of pediatric physical therapy and as an educator at the elementary school level.
After leaving teaching to care for my mom a new chapter of my life began. I joined my husband, Dr. Glenn McPherson, at his veterinary practice Animals of Eden. I have been his Hospital Administrator ever since.
I have volunteered as a Guardian Ad Litem, worked with a therapy horseback riding for children program and Habitat for Humanity.
Pleasures are spending time with my daughter and enjoying new adventures together and also sharing our lives with family and friends. I enjoy gardening, baking, cooking and any outdoor activity including zip lining.
After several years of working in the customer service and health care industry, I am excited to utilize those skills in the realm of veterinary medicine. Animals of Eden opened their arms to me and it has been a blessing ever since. The ability to give compassion and love to animals each day is rewarding. I strive to learn something new each day to ensure quality care to our clients. Smiling comes easily when surrounding yourself with positivity and inspiration. I look forward to sharing a smile with you!
